Hit the drop!
To make my zoetrope I took the traditional animation route, hand drawn on the ipad.
Process work
Possible fold open design
In the process of this project I decided to pick an album that’s cover felt a little weak to me, allowing me to not be influenced by the existing design but take inspiration from the time period it was created and the vibes of the music. Going off of lyrics in the song that titled the album, a key word vibes took president in my design basing vibrations of water and sound vibrations from speakers. Committing to the 90s theme I took a concert ticket from the 90s and used it as a label for the album. It allowed me to have a pop of color in my black and white theme while playing into the vibe of the imagery I used. Keeping my cohesive theme I chose to animate a water droplet for my zoetrope and added an image of a water speaker to the center of the vinyl.
This project pushes the ideation process, it can be difficult to design something that has already been designed. Taking an album and creating your own theme from the context of the music pushes the creativity and ability to redesign. I think this project teaches a lesson in rebranding and the steps in being given a product and designing something based off of it. I found it hard to make all my ideas cohesive in this project, finding ways to manipulate images to make them fit as a whole I found to be difficult.
